Benjamin Tomasi, born in Bolzano/ Italy. He studied at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and at Listaháskóli Íslands, Reykjavik, Iceland. Coming from photography and experimental improvised music, his main interest today lies in searching and generating reciprocal processes of observation and contemplation through an experimental practice. This may result in irreproducible, but emotionally and intellectual singular moments, which lead to different appearances in an audio - visual and performative genre.

RE: FWD:
RE: FWD: is Benjamin Tomasi and Bernhard Garnicnig. RE: FWD: would actually produce successful pop music, but are mostly bored by the working process, probably because of the lack of competence. Therefore, they prefer to confront the image and sound world of popular music to various aspects of an electronic-experimental sound practice.
Projects: Sound/Time/Space (Group show, c17, 2008), Extratemporary (LP, 2009), Ast fällt auf Tonspur (Solo Exhibition, Magazin, 2010), White Out/Glisz (Artachment, Basel, 2011)
The work is a continuation of a process that started in 2009. A process that spans from de-contextualizations of paradigmatic forms of representations in electro-acoustic experimental and popular music genres, to modifications of the causalities in the field of space, time and sound in the context of audiovisual media, to the production of objects and assemblages.
Videos without sound, for example, suggest soundscapes and are thereby set to music by simple kinetic assemblages. Enigmatic phenomena are modeled from standard production hardware and the natural resonances of the space is reinforced with electroacoustic minimal interventions. This approach is also reflected in their work and fans in to a variety of topics and methods, such as the given sound environment, resonance frequencies of the exhibition venue, the possibility of a contemporary bootleg and an acoustic assemblage in the desert.
